Archibald Fullarton (1809–1896) originally published his Royal Illustrated Atlas from 1852 as a part work and it remains an iconic atlas characterized by finely-detailed engraving and wonderful illustrations. Even the maps lacking illustrations are delicately coloured in pastel shades and are widely collected for their decorative appeal.
